Captain of the UNSC Semper Fidelis
I don’t even know where to begin.. I started my week as Captain of the marines, regrouped with about 2,000+ more marines that were then put under my command, blew what we thought was a friendly ship, and then accidentally took command of a UNSC battleship. I dare someone to top that week. Except Admiral Ladson, he broke so many bones and hurt himself so badly saving the Sanctuary I think we need to send him on a year long vacation. However; we can’t do that because with him gone Commander Jeb would be left in charge.. and well.. yeah. We’d probably all end up having a giant party every night for the next couple months until every woman had been pregnant with his kids.
To get things started, I guess I should log the events of the last few months or weeks, I’ve lost track of time. We left the Lemurians’ planet after having freed them from the Trabe and warped away. We discovered from Burnie that there was another human fleet surviving, but they were no wheres near us. Our initial plan was to try and rendezvous with them. Upon trying this, we discovered a ship of the Xeno 144 species falling into a gas giant. We made a quick decision to render any aid we could to them. We were successfully extracting the Xeno 144 when we were ambushed by 3 Crystal battleships and an unknown black ship. Our fighters destroyed one battleship while my marines and myself helped deal with the boarding crystals. During the boarding assault our engineering room was wiped out and Admiral Ladson was hit and critically wounded.
At this time a Xeno 144 battleship warped into the fight and obliterated the remaining 2 crystal ships, but the unknown ship managed to flee before we could engaged it. Having taken severe damage, we were told by the Xeno 144 to follow them to their home world. We arrived and immediately starting repairing and working on the ship as well as the wounded. Ladson was alive but in a coma. Upon further inspection we found several plasma charges strapped to our warp core. I sadly report that our bomb disposal specialist, if we can call him that, failed severely to remove these charges and we ended up having to blow our waste reclamation facility to prevent any extreme damages.
After that we were met by the Xeno 144 aboard our ship and found them surprisingly helpful and cooperative. They helped us with our WR problem by releasing a slug-like creature into the water supply that would eat and remove the wastes. Their engineers helped as best they could with our engineering room. We also learned upon further inspection, the main computer had be wiped so clean that nothing could be recovered. That was scary because they had maybe 5 minutes in the Engineering room before my marines and I arrived there to remove them. In 5 minutes they did something we didn’t think possible.
After this we talked with the Xeno 144 and mentioned in passing our other fleet we were trying to regroup with. They had advanced technology of warping to the point they could link together ships to boost their warping power as well as cover any tracks of where you warped to or from. Something we humans did not think possible. What would of taken us 6 months to do they did in less than a week. After making contact with the other human fleet we managed to develop a plan to warp them to the Xeno 144 home world. Using the Xeno 144 ship as a focal point, they linked their warp drive and made it all the way there in less than a day.
However; upon arriving their ship in charge, the Spirit of Fire, gave out orders and almost demanded theirs be followed and executed before anything else. It was not a big surprise since he technically out ranked us, but the weird thing was that with our computer wiped we could not check the legitimacy of their claim to be who they were. That was not a big deal at first, but it quickly became one in the following week.
Ladson remained in the med bay for weeks due to his injuries and was kept in a medically induced coma for most of the time. When he was able to remain awake we had a meeting between the Commander, our Doctor, myself and Logan. We all agreed something very sneaky was going on with the Spirit of Fire, but none of us had anything more than suspicion. I was approached by the Colonel shortly after and
Once out of the ship, I didn’t manage to make it into the shuttle with everyone else. Luckily my grav hook was able to catch the back of the shuttle so I wasn’t left to die. While being dragged behind the shuttle I was able to witness the space battle. In a final attempt the Sanctuary went straight at the Spirit of Fire in a ramming position. My heart sunk because I knew the damage and casualties would be so hard on humans it would put us that much closer to the grave. The Sanctuary fired 4 anti-cap missiles and then warped away. The Spirit of Fire, unable to evade because it also was in an ramming course was hit and obliterated.
After the Sanctuary warped back into the system, we calmed everything down and explained the situation the Xeno 144. I’m not sure what the civilians are being told so I won’t guess. After everything settled I made the mistake of touring the Semper Fidelis. I found what I thought was just a Captain of the marines quarters and was inspecting it when an ensign approached and asked for my thumb print on a scanner. I gave it and then realized afterwards I had just accepted and assumed control of the ship. Instead of looking at my mistake I’m going to make the best of it.
I began training protocols to get the Sanctuary’s fresher, greener recruits some training from real marines. For the next few weeks they will all be taught and trained as best we can. My hope is to get them the training only a real marine can provide.
