So im no longer a member of the hive. I cant even join them again if i was invited. Fuck! Well i think thats the word humans use. One day I am going to die. (Long period of scilence after a thud). Why am I on the floor? Anyway I have decided to mantain some kind of contact with my race using the FTL comm system we now have. If nothing else I might be able to convince them they are wrong, but I have to change over a trillion minds so it might take a while.

Ive been promoted to Captain and Im going to take over project Triniy when i get back. Simple fact is those bio weapons are far too dangerous to be in the hands of humans at least when there are so few of them. One mistake and well they are all dead. Im immune to just about every biological contagion so im the perfect man for the job. Plus in all honesty im smarter than just about everyone on project trinity so i should be leading it.

The skin walkers are once again among the stars. This is not a good thing. The doctors idea of trying to make them have a physical change like blood shot eyes is a good one, but it will only work for a short time. Everytime this has been tried in the past it is not long before they adapt and overcome whatever we do. Fact is by trying this method it is a constant resource battle trying to stay one step ahead of the genetic adapatablity of the skinless. While i think we might be able to come up with something to work in the short term but we simply dont have enough recources or the proper facilites to keep up with it.

We are currently heading to the wolfen homeworld to help them with a skinless one infiltration. Im not sure what one ship with 400 humans can do for an entire planet but ive been right and wrong about them before. Right now we do have my anal probe for discovering them. Of course that meens we have to “cram it up thier furry asses” as one Marine commented. Im hoping that we will be descrete and move quietly, but i figure im with the XO and Captain Valintine so we will be lucky if the planet comes out intact.

Captain Smithfield, reporting in once again. These past few days have been exhausting. I’ve been working with Captain Burnie on numerous projects. The first is in making devices that will be able to differentiate between the “Skinless” and other species. We’ve also been experimenting in a chemical agent, that binds to the differential mRNA sequences within the cortical system’s membranes. Due to the way in which their organs are assembled, the creation of certain proteins must be altered in order to provide for an altered transportation route in both lymphatic and circulatory systems, to provide for this need Burnie and myself have noticed that the “Skinless” have all the same RNA sequences in our systems as well as a few unique ones. These unique mRNA strands are what we’ve been concentrating on, seeing as how it’s the biggest difference we can tell biologically.
(Jeb, the XO overhears and yells) “I have to read your logs, put it in captain dummy talk!”
Eh, er, well. They have certain strands of chemicals which are not present in our bodies. If we’re able to synthesize an agent that binds to these unique strands, we would then be able to create some sort of selective poison or at the very least a sickness on par with the common cold that would only affect the “Skinless.” Right now we’re working on a using this binding mechanism that causes the cells within the cortical nucleases to produce an over abundance of hemoglobin thus causing gregarious amounts of…
Jeb: “Don’t make me repeat myself.”
… Sorry. In the simplest of terms, this chemical would cause the eyes to become incredibly bloodshot. But would affect only the “Skinless.” This is what we’ve been putting our main focus on. Although finalizing this agent has been finicky, these unique RNA strands and proteins are elusive to say the least. Unless there’s some breakthrough in the research, this could take some time to perfect.

Admirals Log Day 507

So its offical we have run out our welcome. Xeno-144 has requested that we leave orbit now that retofitting is completed of both the heart of midlothian and the new colony ship. The new ship is beautyful both inside and out. Of course now its going to be crawling with kids and noise in just a few hours. Life is bounding in the fleet and I might just kill Burnie for it. We have massivse space and pediatric supplie issues. The good news is that the doctors of the fleet report an astromically low number of difficult pregnacies and birth issues. Whiel they admit this completely defies the odds I have to belive this is because of Burines intervintion. His race and motovations are irritating me. The little son of a bitch will not lie to me wich works in his favor but he keeps doing things on someone elses time table. Its like some puppet master is pulling the strings making him dance, but given what I have heard and seen recently He might be yanking back on those strings. I get the distinct impression that its not Burine thats the problem its the fucking Hive

Im on the hospital ship most of the time. My injuries were more severe than the doctor orignally estimated. Of course im sure it did not help that i got up and hobbled off into the engine room and blasted the computer core and then lead the bridge in the attack on the Spirt of Fire. It did not help that I fell down during the attack and broke my leg and arm. According to the Doctor the little bastard acutally help keep me alive. Again more confusing conflicting information about him. Im running the fleet from my bed with Jeb doing most of the day to day work anyway. He has started some kind of a FNN fleet news network that is very WWII do you partish. Im leaving it alone for now I dont see any reason to stop him. Of course other news networks are popping up. Im not getting involved until things get disruptive. Ive also heard rumors that lead me to belive that some kind of counter intelligence operation is runnning. I got cash thats Jeb but it could be the Cornel as well, but again I see no reason to get involved. Besides we have to smoke out these skin jobs somehow.

On to funnier notes like the fact that Captain Valintine is not the commanding officer of the Semper Fidelis. I was going to send the Cornel over and have him take command, but Captain Valintine moved over and well took the padd from the HMFIC over there and got command transfered to him. Its was fucking awesome! I had the Padd linked to the computer and set to take a picture right as the command codes were transfered. CLASSIC! I had the photo framed and gave it to Samson. Its on his wall with the caption bullet sponge. I should give tours because the look is just too damn funny. of course he wanted to give command over but the cornel outranks him and well I dont want to redo the paperwork to get it changed again. he had better get his ass in gear learning about the ships capablites. I might just have leb run a few attacks on the bitch against him just to show him how ugly it can get. Besides unless he is a total idiot at the stick he should be able to defeat the Defiant class destroyer. Well i hope so anyway.

We are getting underway but before we leave the Xeno-144 ambasador has a couple of gifts for us. One an FTL communication set. It looks like a laptop. the one stipulation was that we destroy it should it look like its going to be overrun. I have had a micro plasma charge placed on it and three command detonators made. One for me and jeb and the last to Conway as he is already comfortable with the denial procedures. the other is a copy of thier entire database of star charts. I have accpeted with humility and have told him if he ever needs us to give us a call and we are on our way. He said something wierd then, “I never thought I would meet an alien so much like us.” I hope to have future dealings with them.

Shit, or at least i think thats the right word, shit. So im sure the hive will be sending someone soon. Afterall despite not remembering it i know that a cybergnought agent is (computer translation permadead). They are expensive and now there is one less in the collective. Even if i was not responsible and I think I am they would come and invesitgate. Im sure they will recall me and my time with the humans will be over. If the cybergnought agent comes aboard ill have to surrender or he will destroy the Sanctuary. i only managed to defeat him because he was not fighting at full strength. If he had wanted to he could have ripped the core out of the ship with his mind alone.

The humans risked everything to save an alien ship. The Sanctuary again took massive damage. I ran some structural integrity tests. Admittedly i have very little knowlage about ships systems but the frame of the ship is taking too much damage to keep this up. The water reclimator was obliterated by plasma charges. Admittly it was it or the warp core so they made the right call. The fleet has expanded to the point where there would be a stable and sustainable population. This was supposed to happen anyway but with two fleets instead of one.

I have a hard time accepting the next phase of the plan. I have to admit that if I can I would like to circomvent the will of the hive but i know I cant. At least not for long. These humans are strangers, but i found them to be oddly appealing. Its like stepping into history of what our people were like before the hive came about. I have the knowlageof thousands of species everything from anthroplogy, languages, history, archology and even with all that I lack even the most basic understanding of them as a people.

Cybergnoughts are the last of our warfighters, but given that we are a good thousand years or more advanced than the humans one of them is enough to kill or destroy a signifcant number of them. I dont understand what i feel about having to leave and go back to the hive. These emotions are not a normal part of my makeup. Im having more and more trouble dealing with them. I wonder if i have spent enough time among humans to have some kind of kinship with them. I wonder if i can convince them that no matter what they should not floow the advice of the cybergnought. He is trained to lie to emulate humans and thier interactions, something i have yet to master, he will use anything he can to complete the goals of the hive and keep the humans in the dark.

The longer i am disconnected and the more i think about it and have time to discover who humans are as a people I have a hard time justifying the hives plan. Its like my (computer traslation liver) is speaking to me about it. I dont understand how humans deal with it. I have been called on to go on more and more missions and I think im going to have to get some kind of combat skin. Nothing as primitive as the power armor that the humans use but something I can use to defend myself. That is of course if the XO will let me arm myself.

Captain’s Log
David Valentine
Captain of the UNSC Semper Fidelis

I don’t even know where to begin.. I started my week as Captain of the marines, regrouped with about 2,000+ more marines that were then put under my command, blew what we thought was a friendly ship, and then accidentally took command of a UNSC battleship. I dare someone to top that week. Except Admiral Ladson, he broke so many bones and hurt himself so badly saving the Sanctuary I think we need to send him on a year long vacation. However; we can’t do that because with him gone Commander Jeb would be left in charge.. and well.. yeah. We’d probably all end up having a giant party every night for the next couple months until every woman had been pregnant with his kids.

To get things started, I guess I should log the events of the last few months or weeks, I’ve lost track of time. We left the Lemurians’ planet after having freed them from the Trabe and warped away. We discovered from Burnie that there was another human fleet surviving, but they were no wheres near us. Our initial plan was to try and rendezvous with them. Upon trying this, we discovered a ship of the Xeno 144 species falling into a gas giant. We made a quick decision to render any aid we could to them. We were successfully extracting the Xeno 144 when we were ambushed by 3 Crystal battleships and an unknown black ship. Our fighters destroyed one battleship while my marines and myself helped deal with the boarding crystals. During the boarding assault our engineering room was wiped out and Admiral Ladson was hit and critically wounded.

At this time a Xeno 144 battleship warped into the fight and obliterated the remaining 2 crystal ships, but the unknown ship managed to flee before we could engaged it. Having taken severe damage, we were told by the Xeno 144 to follow them to their home world. We arrived and immediately starting repairing and working on the ship as well as the wounded. Ladson was alive but in a coma. Upon further inspection we found several plasma charges strapped to our warp core. I sadly report that our bomb disposal specialist, if we can call him that, failed severely to remove these charges and we ended up having to blow our waste reclamation facility to prevent any extreme damages.

After that we were met by the Xeno 144 aboard our ship and found them surprisingly helpful and cooperative. They helped us with our WR problem by releasing a slug-like creature into the water supply that would eat and remove the wastes. Their engineers helped as best they could with our engineering room. We also learned upon further inspection, the main computer had be wiped so clean that nothing could be recovered. That was scary because they had maybe 5 minutes in the Engineering room before my marines and I arrived there to remove them. In 5 minutes they did something we didn’t think possible.

After this we talked with the Xeno 144 and mentioned in passing our other fleet we were trying to regroup with. They had advanced technology of warping to the point they could link together ships to boost their warping power as well as cover any tracks of where you warped to or from. Something we humans did not think possible. What would of taken us 6 months to do they did in less than a week. After making contact with the other human fleet we managed to develop a plan to warp them to the Xeno 144 home world. Using the Xeno 144 ship as a focal point, they linked their warp drive and made it all the way there in less than a day.

However; upon arriving their ship in charge, the Spirit of Fire, gave out orders and almost demanded theirs be followed and executed before anything else. It was not a big surprise since he technically out ranked us, but the weird thing was that with our computer wiped we could not check the legitimacy of their claim to be who they were. That was not a big deal at first, but it quickly became one in the following week.

Ladson remained in the med bay for weeks due to his injuries and was kept in a medically induced coma for most of the time. When he was able to remain awake we had a meeting between the Commander, our Doctor, myself and Logan. We all agreed something very sneaky was going on with the Spirit of Fire, but none of us had anything more than suspicion. I was approached by the Colonel shortly after and

-REDACTED——-

Once out of the ship, I didn’t manage to make it into the shuttle with everyone else. Luckily my grav hook was able to catch the back of the shuttle so I wasn’t left to die. While being dragged behind the shuttle I was able to witness the space battle. In a final attempt the Sanctuary went straight at the Spirit of Fire in a ramming position. My heart sunk because I knew the damage and casualties would be so hard on humans it would put us that much closer to the grave. The Sanctuary fired 4 anti-cap missiles and then warped away. The Spirit of Fire, unable to evade because it also was in an ramming course was hit and obliterated.

After the Sanctuary warped back into the system, we calmed everything down and explained the situation the Xeno 144. I’m not sure what the civilians are being told so I won’t guess. After everything settled I made the mistake of touring the Semper Fidelis. I found what I thought was just a Captain of the marines quarters and was inspecting it when an ensign approached and asked for my thumb print on a scanner. I gave it and then realized afterwards I had just accepted and assumed control of the ship. Instead of looking at my mistake I’m going to make the best of it.

I began training protocols to get the Sanctuary’s fresher, greener recruits some training from real marines. For the next few weeks they will all be taught and trained as best we can. My hope is to get them the training only a real marine can provide.

This is Captain Smithfield, briefing on the happenings of my latest mission. We began in search of hydrogen fuel for the civilian fleet, but after completing the jump to what we thought was the nearest hydrogen source we found an alien vessel in distress. Of course, we tried to rescue the vessel. But upon doing so we found ourselves under attack by The Enemy once again. But this time, they were accompanied by a different ship altogether. My personal suspicions are that this ship belonged to the Xeno 771, at least that’s what current evidence is pointing towards; but no hard proof has been discovered for this theory.
After destroying one of the crystalline ships, another alien vessel belonging to the Xeno 144 appeared. They destroyed the other two crystal ships, but the alleged Xeno 771 ship disappeared from sight. Unfortunately, during the attack the Admiral was put into critical condition.
The Xeno 144 (or “Squids,” as the crew’s been calling them), graciously allowed us to their home planet. Upon entering orbit, we gained contact with the other human fleet using “Squid” technology. Using their technology yet again, we were actually able to meet up with the other human fleet. I’m not sure of the significance of the manner in which we did this, but according to Conway this is very revolutionary.
Upon meeting with the other fleet, we met their Admiral. This man came across as somebody who I despised instantly, thankfully he wasn’t in charge for very long. We found out that their fleet’s Admiral was actually a [CLASSIFIED], and that he was going to [CLASSIFIED]! I was utterly astonished, especially after we boarded the [CLASSIFIED], then [CLASSIFIED] to the [CLASSIFIED]. Then [CLASSIFIED] all of the sudden [CLASSIFIED] a giant [CLASSIFIED] so he took a [CLASSIFIED] all over the [CLASSIFIED]! Then our admiral launched a multitude of torpedoes at The Spirit of Fire, destroying it indefinitely.
So now we have over a hundred ships in our fleet, two more military ships, and a new nursery ship that can hold 20,000 people. Thank god for that too, I don’t know how we would have been able to facilitate all the new births if we hadn’t acquired that ship.

Aside from all of this, I’d like to make a request to the Admiral in a few days. About how the XO and other members of our fleet keep taking advantage of Burnie for their objectives. I’d like it so that the armed guards protecting me, are also protecting Burnie. That the armed guards protecting Burnie, are also prtecting me. I want it so that anywhere Burnie goes, I go too. Anywhere I go, Burnie goes too. I don’t want him to leave my sight unless I’m blinking or sleeping. He is far too valuable to simply be used in dangerous missions. The XO almost broke Conway, and I fear the same might happen to Burnie. Only instead of his mind breaking, it would be his brain breaking all over the battleground. The Admiral and XO may both be Xenophobic, but if it weren’t for Burnie the entire human race might be dead already. He’s even gone as far as finding ways around obeying the hive mind, he’s choosing humans over his own race. That sort of commitment deserves more than being treated as just another personnel member, to be used and abused. He saved the lives of one of our privates, multiple technical personnel, the entire Sanctuary (but saving the Sanctuary I count as saving the fleet), and he saved my life. Also, if it weren’t for Burnie the admiral might very well have died due to the first crystalline attack. We all owe Burnie our lives. That’s why I don’t want him to leave my sight, on orders from the Admiral himself. If something happens to Burnie, I’m the only one that can save him; and if something happens to Burnie, our race might be doomed.

There is something wrong. Time was lost in the briefing. Its like I blacked out or something. the humans have completed a tatical assualt using crude drop pod technology. I came along to override computers and open doors and the like. I was suprised how long it took them to realize i managed to get it done on my first try, but I suppose that beings with limited crainal capacity take longer to complete such actions. not that its thier fault they just have not evolved much yet. The Trabe have an orgin story that concerns me. I am usually framiliar with such things having my (computer translated 76th PHD) in mythological studies of lesser races. I think the hive has something to do with my lack of knowlage. I may start reviewing and opening my own study on the matter.

The Trabe computer system was very low tech using simple traxilating polynumeral encryption. Im not sure i used 1% of my computing power to crack it. they did at least have the systems less interconnnected so i could not take over the entire thing from one station. I did lose my plasma pistol so i guess ill have to build another. I was very very wrong about my intial estimates and 63% of the human females are now with child and with thier gestation periods cut in half there should be another cycle available in approx. 9 months. Assuming humans remain in a state of arousal. As long as they are wake this seems to be a semi permanate state. I suppose if needed i could administer a mild stimulant if needed.

The Admiral has made extensive use of my mass replicator now that he has anti matter to do so. his armament is now or will be over the next month fully replenished. They appear to be arming themselves for a war. Frankly i think the hive might be wrong about thier tatical quotent of this race. Attaking the station is still a sucicide mission at best but they have proven to be every tatically proficent and thier inherant insanity and unpredictablity makes them hard to stratigize against. Worse yet its not just one crazy human you have to contend with. Infact it is a congolmeration of a bunch nutjobs.

I am going to continue my assistance as ordered by the hive and I wonder when i should inform the humans that they want me to rejoin and check in soon. Anyway I’m hoping in the next download that i can convey that human must be TOLD information as they cannot just extrapolate it as we do. I still have trouble with that myself. I am going to begin my own research into the orgin stories of the galaxy. im lothe to redo all the work i did on the PHD, but it might be worth it in the end. If nothing else to aliviate my own curoisity.

So my crew have made and ally and liberated a planet. Literally, but before they accomplished this I nearly lost Captian Valintine to .50 cal machinegun fire. Then they all got what was the work Conway used? Pwned by a female farmer with a plasma shotgun, but to be fair i met the woman and frankly she seemed like a bad ass. We did manage tro recover Valintine and the rest of his crew, but we lost five people and a j bird. After reading thier debriefing ill admit the self destruct was the right call. Problem being that we dont have alot and replacing them is expensive. We do have a new source of antimatter so thats a good thing.

The assault on the Mac Cannon with off with more or less without a hitch. We did lose some pilots and a few hands in the space battle. But given the damage we delt out the butcher bill was light. Once we controled orbit it was a piece of cake to eliminate the larger troop formations and the navy of the Trabe. Yea they as total assholes.

So these assholes do worry me. They have some retarded ledgends regaurding the “first ones”. Im reading thier book and should be done with it in a few weeks. The ship took some damage and we are going to be fixing it for the next month perhaps longer. My concern is not with the book itself but the nonsense it spouts and that my officers will take it to heart. Not that im opposed to faith but you cant consider the ledgends and myths of another culture as intelligence. There are some disturbing paralells. For now im going to place it on the back burner and focus on the next major hurdel in operation underpants. We have to get the warp bombs ready.

Star date 11427598.2457 new callander

So the humans have decided to go out with a bang. Cant say I understand thier actions but what the hell. I now better understand why the seperatists want to be disconnected from the hive mind. While under the influcence of the hive the data suggests that I was not the “Burnie” that the crew knows and loves. (This according to commander Jeb) While on a recent vist to a starport the humans engaged in a month long festival of carnal delights. The smell was HORRIBLE. The pheramones coursing through the fleet were not even held back by the vaccume. ok thats an embellishment, but by my calaculations at least 25% of the possible female population should be pregnate by now. I still have no idea why the hive requested i reformulate all of thier birth control in to fertility medication. These species cannot be that important. Plus its not like we dont have the cloning and storage factilites of the other humans we have collected over the last few thousand years.

Its these enigmatic beings that worry me the most. the hive literally ripped that from my mind despite the fact I wanted the informaiton. Problem is I cannot figure out why. The hive has always shared all information to everyout without hesitation. Unlike humans who feel a need to classify all sorts of things. Like the launch codes to thier nuclear weapons. (Alpha 6873216 gamma charlie blue) There is no classified information among my people. My only conclusion is that they dont want to humans knowing and what I dont know I cant tell.

The Mass replicator is just about on line, but with power reserves running low it might not be possible to use. Plus with thier limited computer power they will only be able create non powered static compnents. Now of course this might be enough for them given thier limited technology. I must admit thier projectile weapons while crude are very effective against the crystaline enemy.

I have noticed an near total personality polarity shift in the Admiral. His new combat based personality is more of what I expected given his war record. Granted most of the crew cannot see his classified files and dont know of his black ops comabt command missions (whatever the hell those are). However in the last engagement he did show this true colors and used the Sanctuary to its fullest combat capabilites. Well back to work on the mass repilcator.
